Wollongong Spinners and Weavers
A community group since 1961. Come and join us!

OUR
STORY
The Wollongong Spinners and Weavers was established in 1961 when a group of eight people with a common interest in fibre arts got together in a home in Mangerton. The group has grown and prospered ever since, celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2021.
Since 2014 we have been based at Mt Ousley Primary School in Fairy Meadow, with our rooms open every Monday of the school term from around 10.00am - 2.00pm.. We have a formal meeting on the second Monday of each month.
We love welcoming new members and sharing our passion and knowledge in spinning, weaving, felting, dyeing, tapestry, knitting, crochet, quilting and braiding.

Our Creations
Exhibitions and other Events
Our annual exhibition took place on Saturday 3rd May 2025, at the Fairy Meadow Community Center. We had a wonderful turn out, with many people collecting a special gift for themselves or someone close to them.
We also had an amazing selection of works for the 'Members Challenge'. Voting from all those who visited on the day saw Beryl's scrumble beanie take out first place, with Kathleen's woven shawl coming in second.
The Fashion Parade was a highlight of the day, with our wonderful models showcasing the beautiful works on offer.

Other Events Coming Up
If you have an event you would like us to feature on our website, please send the details through to the email address below, or contact us through Facebook or Instagram. We are always happy to promote more fibre related activities in our area!
Weaving Workshop
We held our first weaving workshop for the year on Saturday, 12th July.
With guidance and instruction from our wonderful members, 5 eager beginners went through the start to finish process of weaving on a rigid heddle loom. It was a fantastic day with all participants well and truly catching the weaving 'bug' and coming away not only with their very own hand woven mat, but a new skill to continue developing.
Are you interested in learning to weave your very own scarf, shawl, tea towels or more? If so, please email us at wollongongspinnersandweavers@gmail.com or contact us on Facebook or Instagram to have your name added to a waitlist for our next workshop (date currently TBD).
